I got some new glass yesterday and this opal greenish color is a new one.  I love this mint green color and can think of so many color combinations to go with it.  I also got some new boro glass that I am anxious to play with.  I will get these new sets added to the website soon.

New week

I have some exciting news that I keep forgetting to mention.  Beadstyle magazine has a special edition coming out in May called "Under 25" which features jewelry that can be made for under $25.  An editor bought some beads from me back in January that she is going to make a piece of jewelry with them and show the piece as an alternative if you want to "splurge" a little.  I felt so honored she bought some of my beads to be in the magazine and can't wait to see what she makes with them.  These are the beads she bought.

Feeling better

Not me

I am so sorry guys, but I am so sick.  The kids all had the flu two days apart starting last Friday, now I guess it's my turn, although mine is lasting more than 24 hours.  I am praying the little guy doesn't get it because nothing breaks my heart more then sick kids, although my 4 year old got it again.  Anyway, just wanted to pop in a say THANKS again for all the emails.  Orders will be shipped on Monday because I WILL be feeling better by then.

One more day

The kids are off from school AGAIN today.  This is the 3rd day in a row. The roads are just so bad after the snow we had on Sunday.  

I don't have much to say today.  The "grand opening" of my new website is scheduled for tomorrow.  Hope it all works out as planned.

I have been photographing some jewelry so I thought I would share a few pieces with you.

What a weekend

Wow, I feel like I have been at my computer all weekend.  Kind of glad we were snowed in and couldn't do much anyway.  I have been taking pictures, uploading pictures, adding beads to the new website, etc.  Today I worked on all the technical stuff such as making a newsletter form, hosting, ssl certificates, etc (not even sure what half of those things really do or mean, but I did it)  I am hoping in the next few days to have the grand opening of my new webs site.  I will be having a few surprises for you as well so make sure to make a note to check it out.  This is a little "preview" of what is to come.  I have a few new sets that I will be featuring.  Can't wait!!!!!

Working Away

I have been working hard on my new website.  It's quiet a process of photographing beads, editing them, adding them to the site, writing descriptions, etc.  It is scheduled to launch next Thursday, so hopefully all will go as planned.  I am adding pictures on my new site for a gallery of finished jewelry.  I know I have asked before, but if you have any pictures that you wouldn't mind sharing, I would LOVE to include them on the website.  Just email me pictures to rediger@netins.net  

Also my current website will be gone, so if there are any sets you have been eyeing, you might want to get them before next Thursday.  I am starting completely over and photographing everything new.  I won't be adding any new beads to my current web site, I am saving them for next week.  Have a great weekend!

Giving up

I am giving up on the photography thing for tonight.  I am getting frustrated and need to just let it go for now. My main problem is lighting and I don't like the reflections I am getting on the beads.  I will try tomorrow in the daylight.  I am attaching a close up I took with a flash...it was the first shot I took as soon as I connected the lens to the camera and probably was the best one I took all night. Here are also a few of the kids.

Hello, Hello...

No new pictures from me, yet......  Today I will be getting my  macro lens and CAN NOT wait to try it out.  Probably won't post anything till tonight.  I am off to the city (Iowa City) to get some Valentine goodies for the kids school parties and a few other things.

I sure hope you aren't getting tired of all the boro sets.  I will try and get some soft glass sets made soon for those of you who may not like the boro look.  I just can't stop...  I sit down thinking I will work with the soft glass, then my hand picks up a boro glass rod and I am off!  I think they are really getting much better with some great colors and depth.  Hope you all had a great weekend and are ready for your week.  Looks like there might be more snow heading outr way.  Usually I am pretty laid back about winter and don't mind the cold, but this year I am really getting the end with all the snow.  It's fun for a little bit, but now it has just become annoying!

Took the plunge

I told you how I have been working on getting better pictures...  I have researched online alot lately and came to the conclusion that I might want to invest in a macro lens.  I debated for awhile, but finally decided to order one.  I hated to spend that kind of money, but think I will be happy in the end.  I am excited to see how close I will be able to get in on the beads and show all the details.  Alot of these boro beads have sparkles that I just can't seem to capture in a picture.  Last night we all went to the Iowa City library and I checked out every book on Macro photography there is.  Here's to hoping for some better photos...

More Snow, More Boro

 

No school again for the kids today because of all the snow we got yesterday.  Some families can't get out of their drives because the snow is so high.  That's ok though, the kids love playing together at home.

I have such an urge to work with boro glass everytime I make beads.  I haven't worked with soft glass in such a long time.  If you are a fan of the boro beads ~ here ya go...

Snow, Snow

How can it possibly snow anymore?  The kids got out early again today and we are to get another 6 inches tonight.  Here is a picture of Jayla & Cana enjoying the snow over the weekend.

The last two days I have been working on getting my photos better to really show the colors.  I started playing around in photoshop to see if I could get the colors in the beads to really "pop" out.  I think the photos are getting better.  I changed the photos from the first post to the new ones that I worked on a little bit.  I would LOVE for you to send me some feedback on whether you can tell a difference or not.  I get so many comments from people after they get the beads they ordered saying the photo doesn't do the beads justice.  I want the photos on my website to be so close to the real thing.  Please let me know by leaving a comment or emailing me at rediger@netins.net  Thanks so much!!!!!

Welcome to my new soon-to-be cool blog.  I  haven't even touched all the fun things I will be able to do with this blog, in fact I just signed up for it.  It is so much easier to load images on this blog then my website, so I am going to start using this for updates most of the time.  I have so much to do to get ready for my new website, but HAD to show you these sets.  I have learned some really helpful tips on how to get great colors from boro glass and how to get that really whimsical look to them.  Some of them have so much depth it is amazing.  I worked all morning trying to get some good photos to show you the color and depth that these beads have, but photos are never going to be as great  as the real thing.  I tried my best though.  

I just ordered some new boro glass colors and frit and they should be here this week.  I feel like my boro beads are getting better and better and can't wait to learn more.  I just love this glass and it's always a surprise when I get them out of the kiln the next day as to what they are going to look like.

I am going to try and get them listed in the store later today.  The kids didn't have school because of the snow, so things take quiet a bit longer for me to do.  If you see a set you HAVE to have just let me know and I will hold them for you.
